We invite you to join us each Sunday morning at either our 8:30 or 10:45 service. We've written this guide because we want your visit to be a pleasant one.
What to wear: Whether you prefer to dress casually or wear your Sunday best we're happy to have you come as you are.
For those with disabilities: We try to be an inclusive church. Our premises are accessible for those with disabilities and we have reserved parking spaces near the entrance. If you wish to discuss specific needs please contact us.
When you arrive: We have plenty of parking available. If the main lot happens to be full, we have overflow parking available at the office center next door. Feel free to drop off any passengers at the front door.
One of the first things you might notice is the funny shaped building on the right. This is our Christian Education building which is used mainly for our youth activities. Services are held in the other building.
As you enter the building you'll be greeted by one of the many friendly folks at Oak Park who'll be happy to answer any questions you have. Grab a cup of coffee or juice and look around before the service starts.
If you have small children (age 3 or younger) be sure to check out the nursery at the end of the hall. After signing in, you'll be provided with a small vibrating pager that will notify you if you're needed during the service.
Sunday School: Sunday School classes are offered for all ages and begin at 9:45.
During the service: Each service includes music, prayer, and a message from God's Word, The Bible. We also celebrate Communion once a month.
Music: We currently offer two services each Sunday. Typically both are identical with minor changes to the style of music. The first service at 8:30 is slightly more traditional in taste, adding one or two more hymns than the second service. The 10:30 service is more contemporary with bass guitar and drums added. Regardless of which service you choose, we think you'll feel right at home.
Prayer: Prayer is an important part of the Christian life and our service as well. Prayer requests can be shared using the cards found in the seat pockets in front of you.
Message: We want God's word to be understandable and applicable to everyone of all ages. After the music has concluded, children ages 4-6 are dismissed to Children's Church in the library.
Older kids ages 7-11 can participate in the 7-11 Club by grabbing a colorful clip board before the service. They earn points by bringing their Bible to church and taking notes during the sermon. They can earn additional points when you take notes as well. Points can be saved or redeemed for prizes so make sure they bring their clipboard and notes sheet back to the collection area after the service.
Communion: The Bible says...
The Lord Jesus, on the night He was betrayed, took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me." In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me." For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes. - 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 (New International Version)
We celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of each month. After the sermon, the Elders of the church will distribute the "Bread and Wine," small crackers and cups of juice.
God created Communion to help those who have asked Jesus to be their Savior remember what was done for them on the Cross. Please wait to eat until everyone has been served
After The Service: Hang around awhile and meet some of your neighbors. Also keep in mind there are many additional opportunities each week to participate in. Check out the Get Involved section for a list of what's going on.
It's ok if you're not ready for that just yet, but you're always invited and we hope to see you again next Sunday!
